Nigerian security forces have detained a vessel known for its involvement in oil theft, having registered itself as MT Tura II and changing its name after being originally registered in Togo, according to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
The vessel, which has been under observation for some time, was spotted on the coast of Ondo before being arrested in Oporoza, Delta State, where it has been put on show.
The ship had previously evaded capture, but intelligence gathered by the NNPC in collaboration with the security forces led to its capture in early July, 2023. Vanguard's reports.
