Google has unveiled a product called the "Search Generative Experience" (SGE) which uses AI to collect and summarise information from the web in response to search queries. CNBC reports.
While website publishers are worried that the technology could reduce engagement with their sites, Google has stated that SGE will be an experiment to help improve search results. A spokesperson said there are no plans to compensate publishers for their training data.
The AI-generated results are being tested and are displayed above organic search results in a green box. The system has raised long-standing concerns over Google repurposing site content.
