An ad hoc committee of Nigeria's House of Representatives investigating the sale of crude oil and export to China from 2014 to date has discovered an alleged payment of $200m as consultancy fees in whistleblower recoveries by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, without statutory approvals.
The committee has also accused the AGF and the Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, of failing to cooperate with the investigation, despite several letters of invitation sent to them. Lawmakers are now demanding answers or risk arrest.
