Nigeria ranks lower than South Africa, Egypt and other African countries in the World Bank’s latest Logistics Performance Index (LPI). The LPI measures the ease at which countries can move goods across borders with speed and reliability.

South Africa topped the continent, placing 19th overall, followed by Botswana and Egypt which tied at 57th place. Benin Republic and Namibia came in at 66th place, Rwanda at 73rd and Djibouti at 79th.

Nigeria shared the 88th position with Congo Democratic Republic, Guinea Bissau and Mali, scoring lowest in customs and timeliness. The report is a bench-marking tool to improve countries’ performance on trade logistics.
