The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that it is unable to locate the suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Ari, whose suspension was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ari was suspended after he illegally declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate as the winner of the Adamawa State governorship election, while results were still being collated.
The Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, noted that Ari had stopped communicating with the Commission and ignored official directives. The Nigerian police have been called upon to declare Ari wanted. INEC has obtained a report from the Inspector General of Police and has initiated the process for Ari's prosecution.
