United States — A tragic shooting in a rural community in northern Mississippi has left six people dead, including the gunman's ex-wife and stepfather.
The shooter, identified as 52-year-old Richard Dale Crum, was armed with a shotgun and two handguns when he opened fire on victims at various locations in the area.
The first victim, Chris Eugene Boyce, was shot outside a convenience store in Arkabutla, while others were found dead at their homes and on the street.
Deputies arrested Crum at his home and he is currently in jail without bond on a single charge of capital murder. The motive for the shooting is unknown, and investigators are working to bring additional charges.
The shootings have shocked the small community of Arkabutla, which has a population of just 285 people. The incident led to two nearby schools going on lockdown while authorities searched for the suspect.
Despite the tragedy, the community has come together to mourn the victims and support their families.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting with the investigation, and officials are urging Congress to take action on gun reform.
