Four Foreign Nationals Arrested with Voter Cards in Ondo State Ahead of Elections
As Nigeria prepares for the presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday, security agencies in Ondo State have made an alarming discovery.
Four foreign nationals were arrested with Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) and National Identity Cards, according to Bosede Olufumilayo, the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service in the state. The arrests were made during a meeting between security agencies and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure peaceful elections.
The controller did not provide further details on the nationality of the foreign nationals or their motives for obtaining the PVCs and Identity Cards. However, the arrests raise concerns about the integrity of the election process in the state, and authorities have assured citizens that all necessary measures will be taken to prevent any form of electoral malpractice.
To ensure security during the elections, over 7,000 security personnel will be deployed across the state. This is part of a nationwide effort to guarantee peaceful and transparent elections, in which the voice of every Nigerian citizen is heard. The Nigerian government has urged citizens to exercise their right to vote and conduct themselves peacefully during the electoral process.
With the presidential and national assembly elections drawing closer, there is a palpable tension in the air. However, the security agencies have assured citizens that they are fully prepared to maintain law and order and ensure a peaceful electoral process. As the world watches with bated breath, Nigeria remains resolute in its commitment to democracy and the rule of law.
