UNITED STATES — Microsoft has confirmed that a series of “distributed denial-of-service” (DDoS) attacks carried out on its flagship Office suite, including Outlook and OneDrive, earlier this month were the work of Anonymous Sudan.
The group had earlier claimed responsibility for the takedown, with a post on the group’s Telegram channel. Details about the attack are scarce, and Microsoft has not disclosed how many customers were affected or whether it was a global issue.
The company has stated that customer data was not breached, though experts have warned that DDoS attacks on companies like Microsoft can be highly disruptive to global commerce. AP News reports.
