UNITED STATES — Abby Grossberg, a former producer at Fox News, will receive $12 million as settlement for her claims of facing discrimination in the workplace. Grossberg had accused the network of coercing her into giving false or misleading testimony during Dominion Inc.’s defamation lawsuit. AP News reports.
The settlement ends all litigations regarding her accusations against Fox Corp. and her former colleagues - including Tucker Carlson. Fox News has made a statement that it is happy that the matter has been settled without further legal disputes.
The Manhattan lawsuit stated that Grossberg was given “damaging and woefully inferior and inadequate legal representation” compared to her male counterparts at Fox News. The alleged experience led to “irretrievable reputational and emotional harm.” Grossberg also accused Carlson’s show of having a cruel and misogynistic workplace. She was pressured to give misleading testimony during a pretrial deposition in connection with the Dominion case. Her deposition was later cited by Dominion to support its position that Fox News executives and hosts knowingly aired false statements about the 2020 presidential election being stolen.
The settlement with Grossberg comes just months after Fox agreed to pay over $787 million to settle Dominion’s defamation lawsuit against the network. The lawsuit accused Fox News of airing false claims following the 2020 presidential election. The settlement with Grossberg was filed with the “Notice of Voluntary Dismissal” in a lawsuit she had filed in Manhattan federal court earlier this year. The case has now been closed.
