Some groups of protests have assembled at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, calling on the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to prevent the inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-elect.
The protesters pointed at purported electoral malpractices that marred the last general election. They expressed concern over the credibility of the electoral process, which they claim has become a recurring decimal in Nigeria's democratic system.
A member of the protesting group said Nigerians would not accept the aftermath of any event that disregards its collective interests or promotes corruption. "We are here to resist every form of injustice, unfairness, and corruption in our society. We will not fold our arms and watch the manipulation and subversion of democratic ideals," she said.
While the ruling party has dismissed these allegations, the protesters and opposition members maintain their position, saying the electoral malpractices are too glaring to ignore.
