Nigerian Labour Party (LP) raises alarm over presidential candidate Peter Obi's impersonation in London, UK, following his recent airport ordeal. Obi had been harassed by immigration officials and detained before Nigerians at the airport raised their voices.

According to the LP, the immigration officials revealed that Obi was being questioned for a duplication offense, suggesting that someone had been impersonating him in London. The party claims that the impersonator could be committing all sorts of crimes and acts that could implicate Obi, causing a significant embarrassment to him, his family, his party, the obidient Movement, and Nigeria.

The LP alleges that Obi has been under various attacks since the February 25th, 2023 Presidential election, where he placed third out of 18 contestants, despite his supporters and international observers believing he won. The party claims that the Federal Government bugged Obi's telephone line and dispatched the Minister of Information Lai Mohammad to de-market him in the United States, accused him of treason, and urged him to leave the country.

The Obi-Datti Media Office confirms that the LP presidential candidate arrived at the Heathrow Airport in London from Nigeria on Good Friday and joined the queue for necessary protocols. However, he was accosted by immigration officials who handed him a detention note and told him to step aside. He was questioned for a long time, which was strange since he had lived in the UK for over a decade. The immigration officials were taken aback by the reaction of the people, who raised their voices and wondered why Obi was being delayed.

The LP notes that since Obi's face is well known internationally, the impersonator could commit various crimes and acts, causing a significant embarrassment to Obi, his family, party, and Nigeria. The LP alleges that those urging him to leave the country may have planted the impersonators to "tar the Eagle's immaculate appearance." However, the Obi-Datti Media Office assures all persons of goodwill, especially the Obidients, that Obi is not deterred and remains determined to pursue the path his creator destined for him in Nigeria.

The party claims that Obi is back in the country and has continued his charity work, visiting health and educational institutions, making donations, and receiving awards.
