A fire outbreak occurred at Flux Logisxis in the Ikeja area of Lagos State, resulting in the destruction of a property. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident. The National Emergency Management Agency's (NEMA) South West Zonal Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, revealed that the fire started in a warehouse and quickly spread to a whole section of the company. According to Mr Farinloye, the warehouse located at Second Gate bus stop, Oba Akran Way, Ikeja, contained imported drinks and a few foreign materials.
The Berger Paints Fire Service worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading to SKG Pharmaceutical Company, located in the same vicinity. Mr Farinloye praised the fire service for mobilizing their resources from about 500 meters away to carry out the intervention. He added that the SKG Pharmaceutical Company had fire hydrants on their premises, which could have assisted greatly, but the guards on duty could not access or operate the hydrant.
The incident highlights the importance of being cautious during the transitional season from dry to wet, according to Mr Farinloye. Negligence or unsafe practices during this season can lead to immense losses. He urged all Nigerians to exercise caution and be mindful of their surroundings to avoid incidents like this in the future.
