A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning on the Ifako Bridge inward Ogudu on the Oworonshoki Expressway in Lagos State, where a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle collided with a commercial bus, leading to the death of the bus driver. The accident was confirmed in a statement by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Adebayo Taofiq.
According to preliminary investigations, the commercial bus was heading to Ogudu from Lagos Island when the accident occurred. While emergency responders, including Traffic Police Officers and LASTMA officials, were present at the scene to attend to the incident, hoodlums in the area took advantage of the situation to set ablaze the BRA belonging to the Lagos State Bus Service Limited.
The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased bus driver and urged motorists to adhere strictly to speed limit signs erected by the government across the State. He also mentioned that LASTMA has carried out several enlightenment campaigns to warn motorists against over-speeding.
