A 16-year-old black teenager in the US, Ralph Yarl, was shot in the head after mistakenly entering the wrong house to pick up his younger twin brothers in Kansas City, Missouri. The incident took place at around 10pm on Thursday, and the teenager was rushed to the hospital.
Ralph's aunt stated that the teenager escaped but had to knock at three different homes before someone helped him. Police confirmed that Ralph had a life-threatening injury but was in stable condition. The homeowner who allegedly shot Ralph has been taken into custody and then released pending further investigation.
Civil rights lawyer Ben Crump said that Ralph's family confirmed the gunman was white. The incident triggered a protest in Kansas City, with hundreds gathering outside the house where the shooting happened. The police have not yet named the alleged attacker, confirmed their race, or the extent of Ralph's injuries.
