The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has paid a visit to Mrs Jennifer Efidi, a brave voter who was attacked by political thugs at a polling unit in Lagos state during the recently concluded presidential election. Obi shared pictures of the visit on his Twitter page on Monday, commending Mrs Efidi for her courage and resilience.

Mrs Efidi was attacked on 25th February while trying to exercise her right to vote during the presidential election. Political thugs had attempted to stop her from voting, but she stood her ground and refused to be intimidated. The attack left her with bruises and injuries on her face, but she refused to be deterred.

During his visit, Obi expressed his admiration for Mrs Efidi and praised her for her bravery in the face of danger. He also reiterated the need for peaceful and transparent elections in Nigeria, stating that the attacks on voters like Mrs Efidi were a threat to democracy.

Mrs Efidi, in response, thanked Obi for his visit and for standing with her during her ordeal. She expressed her hope that her experience would encourage more Nigerians to stand up for their rights and participate in the democratic process.

The attack on Mrs Efidi is just one of many incidents of election violence that have marred the Nigerian political landscape in recent years. Political thuggery, vote-buying, and other forms of election malpractice have become all too common in the country, leading to widespread disillusionment and apathy among voters.

However, Mrs Efidi's bravery and resilience serve as a shining example of the kind of citizen participation that is needed to combat these ills and build a stronger, more transparent democratic system in Nigeria. It is the hope of many that her story will inspire others to follow in her footsteps and demand accountability and transparency from their elected leaders.
