Murtala Muhammed International Airport's Runways Closed for 8 Weeks for Maintenance

In a bid to carry out essential maintenance work, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that the two major runways of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos will be closed for at least eight weeks. The renovation work on runways 18R and 36L will commence from March 2023, as stated by FAAN in a recent tweet.

FAAN also confirmed that the closure of the runways would not have any impact on the airport's flight operations. However, during the maintenance period, airbuses would be allowed to take off and land via Taxiway B-18L runway.

According to a tweet from FAAN's verified page, the primary reason for the runway renovations is to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers who use the airport. This announcement will provide a chance for the authorities to carry out essential works without causing any inconvenience to travelers.

With the rise in air traffic, maintaining and upgrading airport facilities has become more crucial than ever. This is a necessary step in ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience for passengers. Passengers are urged to stay updated with the latest information from the airport authorities during this period.

The closure of the runways for the essential maintenance work is necessary and is in the best interest of everyone who uses the airport. It's a small price to pay for ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers.
