RRS arrests two suspects with locally made guns and charms in Lagos
The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos has apprehended two individuals in connection with the possession of locally made guns and charms.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Daniel Ojoh and 27-year-old Kudus Ahmed, were arrested following a credible tip-off from members of the public.
According to the RRS, Daniel Ojoh was arrested at his workshop in Alagutan on Saturday, February 18, 2023, and a locally made gun with two live cartridges were recovered from him.
On the other hand, Kudus Ahmed was apprehended underneath Ojota Bridge at about 4:00 p.m on Sunday, February 19, 2023, after he was stopped on suspicion by RRS bike riders on patrol. A locally made gun and charms were recovered from his bag.
The RRS, in a statement released on their verified Twitter page, reiterated their commitment to the safety and security of Lagos residents. They urged members of the public to continue to provide credible information to aid their operations.
It is pertinent to note that the possession of firearms is a criminal offense under Nigerian law, and anyone found guilty of such an offense could face severe penalties, including imprisonment.
The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court after investigation. The RRS has called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or individuals in their vicinity.
