Kano Governor Threatens Banks — Says any bank that fails to accept the old notes will face destruction...

The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has given a strong warning to commercial banks in the state regarding the old N500 and N1,000 notes. During his inspection of palliatives, which were meant for distribution to citizens to ease the effects of the cashless policy, he stated that any bank that fails to accept these old notes will face destruction.

Governor Ganduje stated that financial institutions operating in the state must adhere to this warning, as disobedience will not be tolerated. He added that the space of the destroyed banks would be repurposed into schools to offer quality education to children.

According to Governor Ganduje's spokesperson, Abba Anwar, the governor's statement is not an empty threat. The state government has the authority to take measures to protect the interests of the citizens. The governor's priority is to ensure that the people of Kano State do not suffer undue hardship due to the cashless policy.
