Perpetual Injunction: Lagos Court bars INEC from hiring MC Oluomo's group for 2023 elections
The Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an order of perpetual injunction against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from hiring Musiliu Akinsanya's (MC Oluomo) group to distribute 2023 election materials in Lagos State.
The order also prohibits INEC from engaging any person acting under its directions or privies from partnering or appointing MC Oluomo's members or drivers to distribute materials in the state.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke delivered the ruling in a suit filed by Labour Party, its governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-vivour, and four other parties.
The applicants argued that the partnership with MC Oluomo and his group would permit election sabotage, manipulation, and rigging in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Despite being served with all the processes, INEC did not file any response or attend the court proceedings.
