How Do I Get a VNIN for My MTN Nigeria SIM Linkage?
A Virtual NIN (VNIN) is a 16-digit temporary token of your actual National Identification Number (NIN).
The VNIN is generated for online verifications, registrations, business transactions and so on.
The 16-digit expires seven-two (72) hours after being generated.
Before you can generate your VNIN for MTN Nigeria SIM linkage or registration, ensure that you have your NIN (11-digit number) ready. You can generate the VNIN via the following methods:
1) By simply dialling the *996# code on your MTN line you want to link. You will receive a prompt, then follow the instructions and submit your NIN (11-digit number). Then you will be asked for consent to update your record and if you agree, you will receive a message showing that your VNIN has been generated and provided to update your SIM record with your NIN records. Once your NIN is verified and linked to your line, an SMS confirmation will be sent to you.
2) Alternatively, you can make use of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Mobile App
OR
• Make Use of the NIMC USSD short code which is *346# to generate your virtual NIN.
*Note: NIMC charges N20 Naira for each VNIN you generate.
You will be asked to input your ACTUAL NIN (the 11-digit number) and an ENTERPRISE ID.
• The MTN’s Enterprise ID is 109071
• You Can Simply Dial:
*346*3*YourActualNIN*EnterpriseID#
E.g: *346*3*12345678900*109071#
3) You can also visit the MTN NIN page to generate your VNIN: nin.mtn.ng
