Former presidential candidate under the auspices of the National Action Council (NAC), Dr. Olapade Agoro on Tuesday in Ibadan picked holes in the action of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to announce the new N97 per litre petrol pump price saying that the President lacked the constitutional power to unilaterally fix the fuel price.
"The announcement made to the whole nation by Federal Government of Nigeria policy on Monday the 16th January 2012 by President Goodluck Jonathan of N97 per litre new PMS pump price is not only illegal, it is unconstitutional and lacking merit," Agoro stated in a press release made available to newsmen.
According to Dr. Agoro, the meetings also held by leaders of Nigeria labour Congress and Trade Union Congress with the presidency to agree upon and fix the aforementioned price was also illegal and unconstitutional.
