The Lebanese community in Kano has denied plans to leave the city, following last week’s blast that rocked the city, saying members of the community see Kano as their first home.
Speaking after paying a sympathy visit on Kano State governor and the e of Kano yesterday, leader of the community, Abdulnasser Hajaig said their ancestors came to the city in 1707, and that Lebanese have been living in the city peacefully since then.
“As it is today, we have no other suitable place to consider home than Kano, because we were all born and brought up here. Infact, some of us don’t even know Lebanon the way we know Kano. So where are we are going to if we leave,” he said.
He described the multiple bomb blasts as unfortunate and prayed Allah to prevent a re-occurrence.
“Insha Allah, such will never occur again. As Muslims, we should have faith that Allah is in control of whatever situation we find ourselves,” he said.
