Kano, NIGERIA —
According to a report from Kano state, a seven-man panel of the Supreme Court on Friday in Abuja upheld the death sentence passed on a Kano State-based Nollywood actress, Miss Rabi Ismail, by a Kano State High Court and the Kaduna Division of the Court of Appeal.
The report said she allegedly drugged and drowned her boyfriend, Ibrahim Auwalu, in 2002.
In the judgement, the court stated that the actress was charged with culpable homicide and stated that having examined the alleged confessional statements of the accused actress, as well as the depositions by witnesses and the records of trial-within-trial, it did not see any reason to interfere with the decisions of the high court and the Court of Appeal on the matter which earlier passed death sentence on her.
