LONDON — Former world champion Anthony Joshua knocked out stand-in opponent Robert Helenius in the seventh round of their heavyweight bout at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday.
Helenius stepped in after the British fighter’s original opponent, Dillian Whyte, was ruled out following adverse findings in a doping test.
Despite Joshua struggling to land early blows, the fight ended decisively in the seventh when he hit Helenius with a powerful right-hand punch.
The Finn, who had 32 wins and four defeats from 36 professional fights, had lost in the first round to Deontay Wilder in October last year.
