JAPAN — Two commercial airplanes collided on a taxiway at Tokyo's Haneda airport, causing the temporary closure of one of the airport's runways, the Japanese transport ministry reports.
The aviation incident occurred on Saturday morning and involved a Thai Airways flight, carrying around 260 people, and a plane from Taiwan's Eva Airways that had approximately 200 passengers on board. Japan Today reports.
Although no injuries were reported, the incident damaged a winglet on the Thai Airways plane. The closed runway resumed operation two hours later, following the clearance of debris and the investigation of the incident.
Other inbound and outbound flights faced delays due to the incident, impacting airlines such as All Nippon Airways Co and Japan Airlines Co.
A passenger on the Eva Airways plane confirmed that the impact, which caused part of the Thai Airways plane's wing to chip, made the passengers uneasy.
