In Kilifi County, Kenya, four people were found dead and nearly a dozen others were hospitalized on Thursday after being rescued from a forest where they had been living for several days while waiting for the end of the world. Police discovered the worshippers after being alerted that they had been instructed by a local preacher to fast while "waiting to meet Jesus."
Eleven people were rescued, six of whom were critically emaciated. Police plan to search for more followers of the preacher after reports suggested that others may still be in the forest. The worshippers belong to the Good News International Church, whose leader has been charged over the death of two children and is accused of urging his followers to starve themselves to death in order to reach heaven faster.
