The Edo State Government has closed down a private Specialist Hospital in Uromi over allegations of training and inducting quack nurses, also known as auxiliary nurses.
The hospital was shut down indefinitely for various offences, including operating without registration, engaging unqualified personnel, training of quacks and non-compliance with regulatory standards.
The Director of Medical Services and the Director of Nursing Services in the State Ministry of Health led the operation, stating that the closure was part of ongoing efforts to regulate and sanitize the healthcare system and rid it of quacks.
The government has urged people to support its efforts to eliminate illegal medical facilities in the state.
