Twitter has asked a US district court to identify a user known as "FreeSpeechEnthusiast" who leaked parts of the social media platform's source code.
Twitter said the posts infringe on its copyrights and has asked GitHub to take down the code. It is unclear whether the leak poses an immediate cybersecurity risk, but some experts say it highlights the problem of insider risk in the tech sector.
The leak is the latest challenge for Twitter's billionaire owner, Elon Musk, who took the company private after buying it for $44 billion last year. The company has been beset by chaos, with layoffs and an exodus of advertisers.
The Federal Trade Commission is also investigating Musk's mass layoffs at Twitter as part of a wider probe into the social media platform's privacy and cybersecurity practices.
