On the 18th of March 2023, the Nigeria Police arrested Mr. Chude Franklin Nnamdi with Twitter handle ‘@chude__’ in Onitsha, Anambra State for cyberstalking. According to a statement by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the arrest was made following a petition received via a complaint about his activities on social media which violated the provision of Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 and other criminal laws.

The statement further stated that a prima facie case has been established against him and the case file has been forwarded to the Force Legal Department for further action. The Nigeria Police Force urges members of the public to familiarize themselves with provisions of the law and be aware of the penalties for violating them, especially the cybercrime laws with the new trends in the digital media space.

Cyberstalking is a form of online harassment that involves the use of electronic communications to persistently harass someone. It is a crime that can result in serious consequences, including imprisonment and fines. The Nigeria Police's effort to enforce the law against cybercrime is commendable, and it serves as a warning to the public to be mindful of their online activities.

However, many Nigerians have criticized the Nigeria Police Force for alleged selective arrests and harassments of some citizens while others are walking free.
