In a bid to protect consumers from expired products, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has shut down a supermarket in Oduduwa Crescent Government Reserved Areas of Ikeja. The closure was announced in a statement posted on the state's Instagram page on Tuesday.

The statement revealed that the supermarket was sealed for selling expired toothpaste and other household products. According to the General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, the agency acted swiftly upon receiving a tip-off from a consumer's Facebook post alerting the agency and the public about the sales of the expired products.

Solebo stated that the agency takes consumer protection seriously and will not hesitate to take necessary actions against any business that engages in the sale of expired products. He further urged consumers to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the agency for prompt action.

The closure of the supermarket serves as a warning to other similar stores or business outlets to ensure that their products are not expired and safe for consumption. Consumers are advised to always check the expiry dates of products before purchasing.
