Labour Party Candidate and Supporters Brutally Murdered 48 Hours Before Enugu East Senatorial District Election
In a shocking development, Mr Oyibo Chukwu, the candidate of the Labour Party in the upcoming Enugu East Senatorial District election, was brutally murdered on Tuesday while returning from a campaign rally in Amechi, Awkunanaw local government area of Enugu.
According to reports, Chukwu and five of his supporters were ambushed by unknown assailants who opened fire on their vehicle. The killers then proceeded to set the car ablaze with the victims still inside.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Chijioke Edeoga, reportedly confirmed the tragic incident, stating that political parties who felt threatened by the rise of the Labour Party in the state are targeting his party members for assassination.
