A heavy downpour in Benue state on Saturday 14 July has resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy. He was killed by heavy rainstorm that wrecked havoc in the state, just as no fewer than 1,000 houses were submerged.
The downpour, according to eyewitness started at about 10:30am and resulted into a wave of tormenting tide, which flowed into the ever busy Wurukum market, located along Abu King Shuluwa Road, opposite the Benue Links Transport Company and destroyed goods and property worth millions of naira. The down pour lasted for over seven hours.
