Sun news: A 74-year-old retired army officer, Col. Layiwola Adekanmi Adegunju was among the 5,000 students recently admitted by the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
The septuagenarian grandfather, who was admitted into 100-level of the Law Department of the university, yesterday took the matriculation oath alongside other fresh students of the university, who gained admissionin the 2011/2012 academic session.
A father of four, who hails from Erunmu in Ibadan, Oyo State, became the cynosure of all eyes as every one present wanted to know what really prompted him to seek admission into the university at his age.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Tale Omole affirmed the non-disriminatory admission policy of OAU, adding that education was not limited by age and anyone , who stopped learning should consider himself/herself dead...
