The use of "Nofollow" by bloggers provides a way for webmasters to inform search engines not to follow specific links on blog pages. There are instances in which a blogger may consider using "nofollow":

  • If you have hidden paid links on your blog pages, you may consider using the "nofollow" for those links. It will prevent the links from influencing search results negatively.
  • Contents you can't Vouch for: if don't trust the content of pages you link to from your blog e.g; untrusted user comments or spam comments, you can use the "nofollow" in your blog. This will keep your blog from inadvertently passing page ranks to spammers or untrusted links on the web.
  • You can also use the "nofollow" on untrusted links in order to enable search engine robots to crawl other pages you'd prefer to see in search engine's indexes.
